LT1 new bottom end. to 383?VHG_97_Z28 08-16-2008, 02:15 AM alright so im a new guy to the site and could use some help. my lt1 is dropped and apart out of the 97 z28 i have. motor recently siezed and im rebuilding the bottom end. the set up i had before was a 230/236 comp cam which im staying with for now, exaust, intake, tune and all that fun jazz. im thinking of goin ahead and doin a 383 stroker and that brings me to my question. does anyone have any web sites or resources of where i may be able to find a rotating kit to do this. safe and reliable? i could really use a good website to go to for parts in general for fourth gens. performance of course. suggestions anyone? thanks. MrPbody 08-18-2008, 10:09 AM We build a substantial number of strokers each year, including LT1s to 383. The best ones we've found are Eagle. The kit is complete, with a good 4340 FORGED steel (NEVER use a "cast steel" Chinese crank) crankshaft, 6" H-beam rods, SRP light-weight forged pistons, moly rings and Clevite H-series bearings. Just installed a 383 kit in an LT-1 last month! Highly recommend Eagle Specialty Products for most internal rotating parts. There ARE other kits out there. We've not found one without compromise for price, except the Eagle. I suppose it depends on your budget AND how much power you want. DO NOT cut corners if you want serious (above 400 HP) power.
