I have a 2001 Chrysler T&C. When I initially start my van in the morning it dies - you have to give it gas (while in park) to keep it running. Shifting into gear it'll die unless gassing it. Once running for a bit it is fine & starting other times of the day it is fine. It is the initial start-up after sitting in garage all night. Any idea as to what is the problem? Hoping it's not an expensive one!

Check the IAC ( Idle air control) to make sure the valve is moving and the solenoid is functioning.

... and clean it's port in the throttle body.

This could also be the coolant temperature sensor since it happens only when cold. You need a code reader to find any trouble codes it has.

Should be able to do key dance to see if any codes are present.
Igntion switch on/off, on/off, on within 5 seconds without starting engine. Codes should should show where the odometer reading is.

how would you suggest to best clean the port in the throttle body? What would you use?

They actually make "throttle body cleaner" and are labeled that way. I'd bet it's carb/choke cleaner, just relabeled. That and an acid brush or soft tooth brush.

Thanks! I'll try that.
