2004 Camry Noise at 70 mphgetsstock 08-12-2008, 07:47 PM 2004 Camry with nearly 40000 miles. Replaced old tires with brand new Yokohama Avid TRZ at dealer (correct size tires). Noticed loud noise at exactly 70 mph. Faint noise also heard near 62 mph. Depending on the number (and weight) of people in the car, the noise is also heard at 50 mph. The noise appears to come from below the car (tires). The noise is cyclic in nature -- sounds like someone driving over a hard shoulder. The 70 mph noise generally goes away at 68 and at 72. Issue started only since tires were replaced. There is also some vibration at 40-50 mph and sometimes between 62 and 70 mph. Balanced several times. Aligned once. Dealer said it is the tread design. I did not agree. They changed tires with ones from a used car. Did not help. After further investigation, they found issue with right front wheel bearing. Apparently, it got really hot. Replaced it, but it did not help a whole lot. It was only slightly better. Been to the dealer several times. They can't seem to figure out the issue. Any help from the experts is appreciated. Thank you! getsstock 08-14-2008, 08:11 PM 2004 Camry with nearly 40000 miles. Replaced old tires with brand new Yokohama Avid TRZ at dealer (correct size tires). Noticed loud noise at exactly 70 mph. Thank you! Put brand new Yokohama tires, but it did not help -- in fact, made it worse. Tried relatively new Bridgestone and noise went away. Something about softer compound used in 40k tires vs. a harder compound for 80k Yokohama plus tread is closer in Yokohama. Anyone buy that argument from the dealer? I think I will get a brand new Bridgestone tired and get done with it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
