View Full Version : Radiator Replacement Radiator Replacement jrbueiz 08-11-2008, 04:34 PM For those of you who have replaced a radiator before; Do I need to do anything special with the oil (oil) cooler, transmission (fluid) cooler pipe lines? If so, what's a good method for plugging up the lines while inwork? Also, does anyone know if there are benefits to installing a "Heavy Duty" radiator, AND whether or not it would fit comfortably in the stock location? I'm grabbing one from Autozone with Lifetime Warranty. Here are their dimensions: Heavy Duty: 2 row, 34" X 17 1/4" X 2 1/4" Regular: 1 row, 34" X 17 1/4" X 1 1/4" The difference between the two is approx. $30. exwldr 08-12-2008, 02:48 AM measure and see i you have the space to accomadate the extra 1" thickness remember the fan shroud will be moved back also & you still need room for ac condenser & oil cooler. fan blades may be a clearance issue!!if not then go with the heavy duty . my '96 tahoe has it as a factory option, definately worth the extra bucks,a loaded 5.7L 4x4 can never run cool enough. exwldr Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
