I'll search for a Golf with Porsche rims in a VWmagazine to build it like that car. These wheels will be used: http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_004~22.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_005~22.jpg Colour and other stuff will be showed when I found a nice car to replicate. Kris. Ferrari TR 08-11-2008, 02:49 PM Nice rims, big and low. where did those come from? iceracer1 08-12-2008, 08:01 AM Nice rims, big and low. where did those come from? Tamiya's Porsche 911 Turbo janositamas 08-12-2008, 08:02 AM I like this Golf with those Porsche rims, a guy has a black Golf IV with similar Porsche rims who lives close to me (as I see that car often), looks interesting but cool! iceracer1 08-19-2008, 06:50 AM I have done some work a few days ago. I started searching for reference in some VW magazines. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_001~6.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_002~6.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_003~5.jpg This is the car I like and will use for reference. I'm not gonna make it exactly but I try to make it simillar to this one. Instead of making new panellines etc. for a 3 door body, I only cleaned the rear doors and the doorhandles. I also removed the indicatorlights. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_004~2.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_005~1.jpg Now the front. The real car has a half cleaned frontbumper. Look at the indicatorlights in the front. I do'nt like that so I'll leave that part original. The grille in the frontbumper is also modified. Normally there are vertical and horizontal parts. I removed the horizontal parts. Near the grillle there are 2 holes for foglights. I also filled them for a cleaner look. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_007~0.jpg On the back I also did some work. First I removed the vw logo. I also removed the keyhole and the part where this is build-in. Now I have a half cleaned thrunk. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/primer_008.jpg I also have modified 2 sidemirrors to create the ProjektZwo mirrors on the original. Meanwhile I primed the body and painted it already. Kris. iceracer1 08-19-2008, 07:26 AM I did some last puttywork on the body and than I primed it again. Yesterday I painted the body. First I used flat black and than 4 layers of TS-56 Deep Blue Metallic. I really love the colour now. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blauw_001~3.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blauw_002~3.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/blauw_003~1.jpg I hope to clearcoat it this week. Kris. janositamas 08-19-2008, 09:50 AM Looks promising! renekingcrosby 08-19-2008, 12:25 PM hi iceracer, great color-choice for this golf3! i really like your choice for those PorscheTurbo-Style wheels too! happy modeling! Mojo_stevo 08-19-2008, 11:06 PM Aren't the doors on the 2dr version longer by a few inches, as well as the rear side windows being farther back? For example: In the picture of the 1:1 version, the rear window ends where the gas door begins. sportracer02 08-20-2008, 01:32 AM Hi, model looks great so far, but I agree with Mojo_stevo: making a 5-door car into a 3-door car by just closing the panel-lines of the rear door gives the car a kind of "strange" look, as the front door should be longer and the C-pillar smaller iceracer1 08-20-2008, 02:45 AM Hi, model looks great so far, but I agree with Mojo_stevo: making a 5-door car into a 3-door car by just closing the panel-lines of the rear door gives the car a kind of "strange" look, as the front door should be longer and the C-pillar smaller It's to much work for something you won't see later. I have no problems with this, because I've seen real projects in the VWscene and some of them also just weld the doors to the body. Strange or not I still like it. sportracer02 08-20-2008, 03:42 AM It's to much work for something you won't see later. Of course it is much work, but you´d see the difference, believe me. I have no problems with this, because I've seen real projects in the VWscene and some of them also just weld the doors to the body. Interesting, I never saw that on a real Golf or other car although I visit lots of car meetings, some of them here in Hockenheim and I read lots of VW magazines. These VW freaks take a five-door car and love it or wait until they find a three-door car. Strange or not I still like it. ... I hope so, it is YOUR model ... ;-) iceracer1 08-20-2008, 06:17 AM Interesting, I never saw that on a real Golf or other car although I visit lots of car meetings, some of them here in Hockenheim and I read lots of VW magazines. These VW freaks take a five-door car and love it or wait until they find a three-door car. I've seen some pictures and projects from a guy wich makes a jetta (1986) from 5 doors to 3 doors. Just because the 3 doors are hard to find. Also by making a pickup from a sedan car they weld the doors with the body. So it's possible, and there are people that maybe did it an a Golf. In this scale I think you won't see much difference, so I'm not gonna modify the whole body for just that little detail. But if I had done that, I also have to make new windows, because they are to small, and that's something I don't want to do. Also the chassis is smaller on a 3 doors Golf, do I also have to modify this? Because otherwise it still looks strange...... All these points together, are enough for me to say I DON"T DO THAT! Alright lets get further with my strange looking Golf  Kris. sportracer02 08-20-2008, 01:16 PM Alright lets get further with my strange looking Golf  Yes please, it is strange, but not ugly :lol2: BTW, the length of the 3-door and 4-door Golf III as well as the wheel stance should be the same (according to this source http://www.suurland.com/blueprint_x.php?image=http://www.suurland-media.com/blueprints/cars_urban/vw_golf.gif&id=1088 ) iceracer1 08-23-2008, 07:22 AM Oke, first I made 2 german numberplates. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clear_001~5.jpg I also searched for better seats. I think these Recaro seats from the partsbox.com would be nice. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clear_002~5.jpg I also clearcoated the body. After placing the vr6 decals, I sprayed four layers of ts-13 clear. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clear_003~5.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clear_004~3.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clear_007~0.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clear_008.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/clear_009.jpg The colour is hard to photograph, but you can believe me, it's very special. Especially in the sun. I hope to do some work on the chassis and interior these week. Kris. gtidude 08-28-2008, 01:09 PM NOW that looks hot, very very nice my friend! iceracer1 09-05-2008, 09:22 AM Last weekend I polished the body. First I sanded it and polished it with tamiya compounds. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_001.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_002.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_003.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/gepolijst_004.jpg Now I'm gonna work on the chassis to fit the Porsche wheels. Kris. ImolaEK 09-06-2008, 04:32 PM Nice job, I love VW's with Porsche wheels on:smokin: Rye 21 09-09-2008, 05:40 PM Damn, that color is sick!!!! Why do some spell color, colour? I really dunno. iceracer1 09-23-2008, 09:15 AM I placed the lights on it and finished the chassis. I also polished the paint again for more shine. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_001~6.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_002~6.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_003~6.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_004~6.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/polish_005~5.jpg Up to the interior! :) Kris. MidMazar 09-23-2008, 04:57 PM Lookin good, you can add some trim around the taillights as they look toyish, even though the rest of the car doesn't. Almost done!! tonioseven 09-23-2008, 10:15 PM Nice and clean!!! :sunglasse iceracer1 09-24-2008, 06:45 AM Lookin good, you can add some trim around the taillights as they look toyish, even though the rest of the car doesn't. Almost done!! What kind of trim? The original car in the magazine is also full red without a trim or something... Kris. jtwisconsin 09-27-2008, 09:20 PM I also think those wheels look terrific on that Golf. With that great paint job, it almost looks real from the front view. Nice job! windyran 09-27-2008, 10:02 PM It's great! I would like to follow you to make some nice model iceracer1 10-08-2008, 04:14 AM Finally I did some last work on this car. First the interior. I used only black as maincolor, and because it was a bit boring, I added some accesoires. I used ScaleProduction resin Rallye seats, Fujimi steeringwheel, black interiorflocking, a 3D Porsche logo, radiofront, white tacho's, FHM magazine and a AMT mini plastic kit :) http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/af_003_%28Medium%29.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/af_001_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/af_002_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/af_004_%28Medium%29~0.jpg http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/af_005_%28Medium%29~0.jpg I also had ordered some 3D Porsche decals. They are used on the wheels. I also made a new aluminium exhausttip. http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/af_006_%28Medium%29~0.jpg Kris. mrawl 10-08-2008, 05:58 AM Very nice!
