Hello all,

I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee. The electric fan will not come on, even with the AC running. I checked the fuse and it is good. I checked the fan itself by hooking up a jumper to the battery, and it worked fine. I checked for voltage at the fuse panel, (the one next to the battery) and there was full power. When I checked the place where the fan plugs into the harness, I don't have any power.

Is there a relay somewhere?

I have read allot of post on electric fans, but haven't found one that has helped me.

Any suggestions would be very appreicated.

Thank you

Is there a relay somewhere?
Yep, and yours is almost surely bad.

Changing that relay worked.

I noticed two things though.

1) while the fan is running, the relay gets very hot. I am guesing that is why there is a large aluminum base on it and it is in the location it is.

2) now my fan seems to on all the time the car is running.

any suggestions?

Thanks

It should run as soon as the temperature gauge reaches or nears the 210 degree mark. It will also run whenever you turn on the a/c.
