Anti STOP braks!geofrog 08-06-2008, 02:29 PM Help, Got the fiero running this last week, after a lot of parts and a complete remodel of the interior, new colors all around. Pretty cool. anyway I took it out on the road the other day, went to hit the breaks, and they didn't work very well. My peddle was really soft, and i don't think i could lock up the breaks if i wanted or needed to. I replaced the front calipers before i did this, bled the system, and got the peddle feeling good, until I start the car. wanted I did notice that when I hit the brakes with the car off a geiser of break fluid shot around inside the reservoir, This happened before when i to bleed them, my cousin thought I needed to put the brake fluid cap on, but i told her it wasn't needed. It shot fluid out the real reservoir. Any Ideas at what i need to fix this problem please let me know. geofrog 08-10-2008, 01:24 PM I think i figured it out., This sounds like something stupid and all, but because i took everything apart retracted my calipers and all. It turns out all i needed to do was to pull my parking brake, to reset the rear calipers. Now the breaks feel a 100% better. Something to chalk up for the book of knowledge. Seeya Old Lar 08-10-2008, 05:15 PM Using the parking brake is highly recommended on the Fiero. My mechanic yelled at me for not using it, then my complaining that the car didn't stop real well. So when I park the car in the garage I pull on the brake. Since my Fieros sit a while some time I'm always concerned that the parking brake will not release after sitting. It hasn't happened yet. geofrog 08-10-2008, 06:29 PM Thanks, I will remember that, got a few other bugs to work out with the car, but i actually had it going down the road today. LOL that doesn't sound like much, but if you saw the car before I started putting it back together you would understand. but as far as the brakes are concerned, a little more bleeding would be great and it will be even better, but for the most part, is doing good TTFN vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
