what is the problem if you get a code for 9-1?

The FSM has 4 number codes...so I looked up 0901 and got FR O2 SEN HEATER. Your front O2 sensor heater could be shot or not hooked up correctly.

what exactly is the o2 sensor heater?
is it the o2 sensor on my exhaust manifold?
does anyone have a picture of this sensor?
is it hard to remove the old one and put on the new one?
