After a long break from modeling I'm back with something rather unusual.

During my time in South Africa I made friends with a nice couple. They build offroad buggies and organize self-drive adventures.
I went on two trips with them and we all had great fun. Back in Germany I looked at my stack of models for a suitable base...

To give you an idea what I'm talking about I'll show you the inspiration first: the AFRIKAR, designed and built by my friend Rob.

The buggy is based on a custom made heavy duty frame with VW Microbus (T3 elsewhere) axles and steering components.
The shell is based on the Kango T-Top beach buggy, a South African made glassfiber shell for the mighty VW Beetle.
In original guise it looks like that:

After Rob's remodeling it looks a lot beefier and let me tell you: those things do take a beating or two!

Allright, back to my idea. I thought about scratch-building the T-Top shell because I think this is the BEST looking buggy ever!!!
But unfortunately I don't have the time right now to scratch it completely, I might do that in a few months/years. However, I did
find a kit in my pile that was never on my to-do list:

Curious? I'll post pictures of what I've done so far tomorrow, until then you can let your imagination flow :cwm27:
