92' Gmc 1500 Rear Diff. Rebuild

I Want To Rebuild The Rear Diff., But Have Never Messed Around With A Rear End Before.any Suggestions On The Best Manual For The Job?

This is not usually a job for a first timer without help, you would need a dial indicator for backlash, inch pound torque wrench, should have a case spreader for removing the center section, access to a press to RR and the bearings, gear marking compound.. Many on line sites have the general how to, for your specific truck a shop manual should be used.

Also stay away from synthetic gear lube,a big cause of rear end failures.I know of this happening to 3 rear ends.My father's friend Rich knows about it,replaced ring and pinions due to synthetic gear lube.Rich also has a 1983 Monte Carlo with a 9" Ford w/a Detroit Locker and was told not to use Synthetic gear lube.Synthetic Gear lube will screw up Detroit Lockers.
