Front pump seal blowout 90' f250 e40d (3 times)lousmith 08-02-2008, 10:06 PM I recently returned from Wa. with a significantly leaking front seal. I replaced the seal and within 1mi. into test drive it blewout. I replaced it again and the same thing happened with the upgraded VITON seal. Reinstalled for a third time, but replaced the pump bushing and the torque converter. Samething happened. It was suggested to me that I was to put the seal in dry. Any solutions??? Glue or loktite maybe. Is there a drain hole in the pump that has to be drilled larger before installing seal to keep the pressure down??? Tranny only has 90,000 and still runs strong. Be very careful and don't use to much wipe off all excess. Allow it to dry throughly and also use vasoline to greese the inside of the seal so it isn't dry. You can use vasoline but they sell an assembly lube, don't use greese. I have gone to a scrap yard told them what I needed. They will sell one from a defective returned transmission core. If it feels like you can push the seal in by hand this is your best option. Since you replaced the bushing I'm sure you know exactly what piece I'm talking about. rhandwor 08-07-2008, 08:45 PM What did you decide to do did it work? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
