Go to a good parts house and try to get into a Moog or McQuay-Norris catalog. That should set you straight. Bob joe68 08-04-2008, 11:15 PM it not the links i have a question with,it but the sway bar bushing size? where did this size bar come from and should i buy new bar or find somebody that carried this size bushing ? 72chevelleOhio 08-05-2008, 03:25 AM i have a 68 chevelle, and measure the front sway bar as 15/16, going to order new bushing but it all state that i should have a 1" bar. maybe somebody put this on some another year? what is the correct size? chevelle -68-350 also no rear bar thanks joe You don't have the rear sway bar because that didn't start until '69. That was the F41 suspension package. It included a 1 1/8 front and the 7/8 rear sway bar and boxed lower control arms. There were only 722 produced in '69 with the F41 option. I know 15/16 was the standard sway bar on '69 and the F40 suspension option got the 12 bolt rear end even with the smaller engines. After a brief search, I am now more confused about the suspension options then ever before...... ....Luckily, OPGI has all the sizes for just under $20. ............link (http://www.opgi.com/product.asp?topcatid=28&chapterid=804&topvalue=0&newflag=0&grpcode=11151&yearrange=) joe68 08-05-2008, 10:00 PM i did a little research too, and found 65 396 z-16 had this size bar,now i doubt this is on my car,but this make me confuze too, i thought i knew all about this stuff and then this, well that why they call it a hobby! opgi ? is that a web site? thanks joe joe68 08-05-2008, 10:27 PM i did a little research too, and found 65 396 z-16 had this size bar,now i doubt this is on my car,but this make me confuze too, i thought i knew all about this stuff and then this, well that why they call it a hobby! opgi ? is that a web site? thanks joe i found the web site and found the right bushing, many thanks nowi need to put ebrake back together,be back soon joe alshane 08-10-2008, 09:04 PM don't take this to the bank but i believe the sway bars on a malibu is smaller than that on a "true SS". joe68 09-19-2008, 10:04 PM you right !!!! it is MrPbody 09-20-2008, 10:23 AM FWIW, the front bar from Trans Am ('70-'81) is 1 1/4" and fits! I put one on my '70 Judge, and when coupled with good shocks and springs, along with the 7/8 or 1" rear bar, the car handles amazingly well. The steering box from a '78 T/A w/WS-6 package is another BIG TIME improvement. I know, all this is Pontiac stuff. It still fits the Chevelle! And a small block car can be made to really carve the corners! I've done a few '64 and '65 Chevelles in the past, that were very impressive in handling. Pissed off more than one 300ZX!! The '68-'72 is a bit better, as the frame rails are a tad wider and the wheelbase is 3" shorter. Jim joe68 09-21-2008, 07:35 PM thanks i will keep that in mine for sure. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
