I have a 99 Chevy 2500 Suburban. The A/C doesn't start getting cold until I have driven it about 10 - 15 minutes and then it gets as cold as it ever has...seems like it just has to get warmed up. Anyway, it has been VERY HOT.

I have tried putting coolant in but the pressure gauge on my DIY kit says that it is pressured up so I am afraid to put any more in.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Static pressure, low and high side pressure at idle and at about 2500 RPM's would be helpful in determining if there is a problem. You say it gets as cold as it ever did after 10 or 15 minutes. With the temperature being as hot as it has been here lately and my Caddy shut up, it takes a long time for it to completely cool off. I keep a thermometer in my center duct and just the other day I got in to go store and the thermometer said 146 F. Outside temperature was 108 F so I rolled the windows down because I knew it wouldn't cool off in just 5 blocks. It takes a little bit of time to displace all that heat before you start feeling cool. try recharging your A/C go to your local autozone or advanced autoparts or any auto part store and ask them for a a/c recharge

You need to read both low and high pressures after 10 minutes, at about 2000 rpm and post. If you can't do this, take it to an AC shop, not a place which advertises "we do AC".
