Hi all,

I have a 97 JGC with the 4.0 motor. The other day, my son drove it and it was running rough for him. Later the same day, when he went to drive it again it wouldn't start. You can't hear the fuel pump run like you should when you turn on the key. Coincidently, the fuel pump has been making a noise for some time. I have checked all fuses and relays (all good) but I am getting an error code 42 which I think is something to do with the fuel pump relay but I have performed the relay check per the chrysler repair manual and the relay checks out ok. I get only 6.5v at the connector for the fuel pump back by the tank. Shouldn't I be getting 12v? The voltage quits when the key is turned off so it seems to verify that the relay is working correctly. I still am thinking it is the fuel pump but I want to be sure before spending the money. Any ideas on what is wrong and what else I should be checking?

Thanks for any help I can get.
