Hey I have no experience with these cars and don't know anyone with one, but I am thinking about getting one for gas milage. Are these cars reliable? How many miles would you expect to get out of one?

Please don't say "of course, it's a toyota." The tercel is only expected to get a little over 100,000 miles until it dies. I just want to make sure this car will last 200,000 miles. Thanks for any info.

I've been driving one for about three years it's a 2003 and it has done pretty well, almost 150,000 miles one it now.

I would say they are Mine is a 2000 Echo with a 5spd.. Just hit 305 000 miles. no major work done. just 1 clutch, 2 ngine mounts(1 was the transmission mount) 1 set of coil paks, and the usual front end, and suspension wear and tear items.

The car was pretty much treated like a truck (put a deep freezer on the roof, hauled lumber, even took it into a few fields. Still Running strong

The only complaints I have heard from my drive students is that the speedometer and other gauges are in the middle of the dashboard, not in front of he steering wheel.

Mine's a 2000 with 165,000 km and it's like new, nothing but regular filters, fluids, brakes, rubber and recently some minor front suspension in DYI level (sway bar rod kits). Not even timing belts to be replaced; they have timing chains that are generally lifetime durable. Pricey to buy on the used market, but if you can get one that's affordable jump on it! Just my $.02 worth!

My buddy has a 2001 Echo with auto trans. When he purchased it brand new I laughed at him and told him it's disposable and won't last longer than 70,000 miles. Boy was I wrong!, he is still driving it today with 185,000 miles on it with the original transmission & engine, I perform all his repairs as I am the "family & friend" pro bono mechanic. All this car ever needed was tires, brakes, oil changes, and a battery, one coolant flush and one transmission fluid service. This thing is amazing.

I am going to have to stand up for my 92 Tercel with 292K and still going strong :)

I like my gauges in the middle, you don't have to look through the steering wheel. Almost 190,000 on my 03.

My boss recently sold my Echo :( (At 172,000 miles)
But she gave me a brand new Toyota Corolla to replace it. :)
