tailshaft housing needed for 92 Cougar

Hello,
Anyone know where I can get the transmission tailshaft housing for my 1992 Cougar. Its the 5.0 automatic, not sure which trans comes in this car. Bad from U joint hosed mine. Can this be changed without dropping the gas tank?

Call a few scrap yards and ask if they have any returned transmissions they will sell you a tail piece from. They sell the good ones but ask for the defective to sell for scrap. They will even ask for your defective tail piece.
You won't have to drop the gas tank to do this. Remove the drive shaft and
remove the yoke. Then remove four nuts holding it on depending on your transmission. They make a bushing for this if this is all thats bad.
