I go on a lot of trips and the screens keep passangers quite. No i dont watch while i drive. I did all the installation myself including removal and re installation of the headliner, i also made the billet plug system for the visor monitors as GM doesnt use bolt up visors. Setup consists of panasonic cq-vw100u nitro flipdowns viewtech visors clarion va-700 video amplifier I spent under a grand on all parts, and total install time was 12 hours, includin 3 hours for the billet pieces alone, i think i could have done it in 8 but i broke it up over a week. I know i could have gone with better monitors, but i couldnt justify spending $400 for a flipdown that looked roughly the same as quality. Here is my cardomain page for some more pics of my truck http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3057391 Now my stereo system in the works will be either a single 18" Sound Splinter RL-p, or 2 12" RE-SX subs, sundown amps for both my front stage and sub stage, and comps will either be 6.5" RE-XXX, rainbow comps, or something of similar quality ( i scrapped the 3 comp setup Paul). Subs will be in a custom fiberglass enclosure most likely sealed but that will be determined by the subs i purchase. Let me know what you guys think PlayStation3 07-22-2008, 09:59 AM looks good PaulD 07-22-2008, 07:11 PM I like it so far .... most people have NO idea how much time, money and work goes into a vehicle to make it look nice. The best part is, you can do whatever you want to make it custom. pimprolla112 07-23-2008, 02:41 AM I like it so far .... most people have NO idea how much time, money and work goes into a vehicle to make it look nice. The best part is, you can do whatever you want to make it custom. Before i even started i got quoted from several local shops, one wanted 1200 just for the install, then another 2000 for all the parts. I bought the HU, and VA 700 from www.onlinecarstereo.com, and the monitors from ebay. I think it was $1040 (my dash harness alone was $80, damn gm and there lan bus 2 setup). I know that no shop would take the time i did as far as reinforcing the mounting area with sheet metal, and making the billet parts. The flip downs alone could hold the headliner up. So far im extremely please with it, its the first full video system ive ever done and i learned alot while doing it. If anything fails i can easily replace it. On a good note i went to a car show about a month ago, while i didnt win any spot in my class (3 bagged suv's got into my class), i did have alot of people stop and watch gone in 60 seconds, had at least 10 people ask who did it (very surprised looks when i said i did). More pics will follow as i do more work on the truck. PaulD 07-23-2008, 07:37 AM car shws are stacked .... if you are a truck/SUV you have to have all that stuff, especially the bags pimprolla112 07-23-2008, 11:58 AM car shws are stacked .... if you are a truck/SUV you have to have all that stuff, especially the bags Yeah and i dont want to take it that far, its alos my DD. However alot of shows i have been to have alot of classes and they will classify you by street/custom/etc. So i would be in the street class while the guys with bags would be in custom. This was a smaller show about 100 cars 5 suvs total. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
