2004 malibu fuel and temp guage problemswsouter 07-20-2008, 11:36 AM Hello, My father has a 2004 malibu. He called me today and said his gas guage, temperature guage , a/c and his remote door lock/trunk opener doesn't work. Could this be the BCM or is there something else it could possibly be. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Jim Ed_Strong 07-20-2008, 04:59 PM First go the easy route and check the condition of the battery and make sure the fuses are all good. All modern vehicles are so sensor and electronics dependant than the slightest drop in voltage can throw everything out of wack. Most Auto Parts stores can bench test and diagnose a battery for free! wpbharry 07-21-2008, 07:06 AM As I recall, this was a fairly common problem in early-build 2004s. My '04 Maxx was built in late April '04, so I've not experienced it. In any event, I think the problem WAS a faulty BCM. If so, there should be a TSB on it. You can do a search on the problem in the Edmund's forum to be sure. For sure it was discussed (probably to death) there. We actually unhooked the battery, left it for 20 min. and it seemed to clear everything and has been OK since. Again Thank You vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
