I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 with 63,000 miles on it and the oil pressure is way to high. On start up the oil pressure gage will read 80 when i first leave home. It dosen't seem to matter what the RPMs are of the motor it still showed 80 for a few min.

After it had been driven for awhile going 55-60mph the gage would read 60 and at idle around 40+.

Any suggestions on what it could be? It seems to run fine and the motor temp is normal.

The oil level is fine btw. I change it ever 3,000 and have another 1,500 before its do a change again.

While it's possible for the engine to produce too much oil pressure it's most likely a bad sending unit, replace it with an OEM unit.
