2002 Savana Transmission Switch

I have a 2002 GMC Savana, 1500, 5.7L, 130,000, AT.

While out driving I stopped to get gas. It would not start again. It won't turn over at all. I pushed it away from the pumps and had it towed home. Here is what I know so far...

The dash lights up like normal. I can put it in neutral and push the van around. I've tried a bunch of things and ended up replacing the ignition switch with no change. Hooking up a scan tool shows the following:

Gear commanded by the transmission shift lever: varies according to shift lever position
Gear reported by scan tool: 3rd
Ordering the solonoids on and off will change the reported gear.

Data reported by the scan tool:
.TFP SwitchTR SwitchTR Switch Signals
.A B C P.A B C P
PH L H PL H H LL H H L
RH L H INVALIDINVALIDL L H H
NH L H NH L H LH L H L
DH L H INVALIDINVALIDH L L H
3H L H INVALIDINVALIDL L L L
2H L H INVALIDINVALIDL H L H
1H L H INVALIDINVALIDH H L L

Can anyone help me out with this?

TIA
Ben

Hi,
I have a 2003 Chevy Express that did the same thing today.
I towed it to the mechanic, he changed the ''neutral switch" found under the transmission cause we thought that can cause it, but it does the same thing still.
the transmission shifts nice mechanicly, but on the dash shows it is allways in D2, so it doesn't start. Can you tell me what was the problem with yours, cause it sounds like the same thing. Thank you very much!
