Clutch Switches

On my '93 Wagon with 1.9L there are two switches on the clutch pedal. One is on the firewall and that's the neutral safety switch. The other is on the driver's side of the pedal so it would work more like a brake light switch. What is this switch for? All I can think of is it would disengage the cruise control if you pushed in the clutch but I don't have cruise control. It had an after-market cruise control when I bought the car but I threw it away. This switch doesn't look after market. Any ideas?:confused:

Update: I pulled the switch out. The car still starts and no check engine light. I looked at the switch and it doesn't say "Ford" on it. I'm starting to believe that this was from the previous owner's after-market setup.

This car has always had a high engine RPM problem when it's on long trips. I'm wondering....:eek:

The switch is from the aftermarket cruise. Keeps the engine from over reving when the clutch is disengaged. Had one on a Honda a few years back. Put it in myself. Went out shortly thereafter. Tore it out. A waste of money. Never worked right. Wouldn't hold speed going up a grade and gained too much speed going down.
