1987 Camaro 2.8 6 Cyl wont idle

I have a 1987 Camaro with a 2.8 FI 6cyl. The car will start and I can rev the engine, but if I let off the peddle, the engine stalls. I am confused what this is.

I have the exact same car exept a 1986 2.8 V6 and the exact same thing happened to me and i took it to a mechanic and they said i needed a whole new top end and half the bottom end redone because of the low compression. Cost me $3450 in parts, and $1250 labor. Its not even worth the time or money.

i guess this is happening to many of these cars. i thought it was just the catalitic converter or vacuum hose but my mechanic said that since my oil pressure was so high that i needed a new top end and half the bottom end redone. sorry man.

You had high oil pressure reading also on this?

half the bottom end????? which end..............lol .Sorry man to me it sounds like you got boned Big time. I`d be checkin the bone yards out there before I`d pay 4700 bucks for an engine job
