How to remove the ignition on a 71 lemans?Chad82 07-08-2008, 02:14 PM So this weekend I was trying to replace the turn signal switch on my lemans. and after I put it all back together, I had no power (no lights, no hazards, wouldn't turn over, nothing). Now when I was replacing, I started taking off the second portion of the column where the ignition is held because I couldn't see an easy way to slide the turn signal wiring harness down the column until fiddled around with it some more. While doing this, there was an extra gray wire in the wiring harness not attached to the turn signal, I assume this is for the ignition. I may have pulled this wire or otherwise disrupted the connection. So I am wanting to be able to pull the ignition portion of the column off to see if I need to replace the gray wire. However when I tried pulling the ignition part off, it was loose but I couldn't remove it completely and couldn't really see what was catching it. Any help on how to remove that? And any addition help on anything else I may have screwed up? All my fuses are good and a couple hours before I did this the car was running. inafogg 07-08-2008, 02:55 PM have'nt done 1 in awhile are u sure the rod to switch did'nt come loose??when u turn the key is there resistance.there should be when turning to start should spring back.if not look at switch at bottom of column should'nt have to take it all apart for this also make sure its adjusted properly Chad82 07-08-2008, 04:43 PM there is resistance, i dont remember if it sprang back, though. I don't have the car where I live (no space) so I will check that out this weekend. would that cause no power though? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
