It looks very nicely cast. Skii 07-07-2008, 07:05 PM Thanks Steve, the figure is by MSM creations, I've done some initial paintwork on the upper half, helmet and white areas mostly done, waiting for some vallejo blue to arrive for the rest of the overalls. Visor still to be done. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u186/Skii_album/figure1.jpg potsie 07-09-2008, 11:46 PM Great start. It sounds like this kit is much more detailed and a better quality than Tamiya's own 962 - is that correct? Skii 07-10-2008, 06:58 PM Great start. It sounds like this kit is much more detailed and a better quality than Tamiya's own 962 - is that correct? hi Potsie, the Tamiya 962 suffers from having a bodyshell which is moulded in one piece with the glass, making painting and demarcation between bodywork and glass difficult, (the bodyshell was originally designed for the miniature R/C car) and overly shallow air inlets either side of the cockpit. The 962 is also a curbside kit and lacks engine detail, so yes it would be fair to say the 956 is a much better quality kit. cheers john Shunter 07-11-2008, 05:58 PM Nice start, look forward to seeing more. Luchato 07-11-2008, 11:52 PM excellent! i need to see more of this build Skii 07-19-2008, 06:51 AM Did some more work on the figure, painted with the excellent Vallejo Game colours the end finish is very glossy but toned down nicely with some matt coat. I'll add some logo decals when I figure out where to find a small enough Union Jack decal for the front of his helmet and Shell logos for his shoulders ! http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u186/Skii_album/driverpaint3.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u186/Skii_album/driverpaint2.jpg Here is a quick shot of the bodyshell, clear coat on and most of the decals sealed - again I'm missing decals for the 1984 car driven by Bell and Ickx so thats something to add in the future. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u186/Skii_album/finallaqer.jpg Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
