I am completely worn out. My upper body is refusing to move. The hubby and I spent the last weekend working on my 1969 cougar. It needed a new brake system, so all of the old lines and master cylinder have been removed and new parts are in the garage just waiting to be put to use. Being a glutton for punishment, we decided that the front end was a little squirley so the perhaps it would be best while the car is up on stands, to replace all of the front end components (tie rods, upper and lower control arms, pitman arm, springs... you name it). Well, santa Ford arrived at the house with all of the fun items, so we decided we had better get on taking the old parts off. Here comes the fun. Parts that have been together for 40 years, as you can imagine, have no intention of letting go easily. Soooo, needless to say, I've spent 20 hours in the last 2 days under a car, hammering the crap out of the pickle fork... using numerous different cheater bars to loosen bolts and eating a lot of old crud that happens to fall off the undercarraige.

So... if you are thinking about a restore, just be sure to ask youself, do I really want to do this?

My answer???

Hell yeah... what a better way to spend a weekend then with a couple of beers, good company, getting your hands dirty and having the prospect of finally getting to drive your beautiful classic convertible that you restored...

Agreed, put 600 hours in my 55 Chrysler New Yorker Hemi, rebuilt from the ground up, literally, 1 year 40 hours a week, I know!!!
