97' blazer, what are the steps to fix my transmission.jogova 06-25-2008, 01:33 PM I bought a used car with a transmission that slips, but I don't want to send it to the shop. I would like to give it a try in fixing myself. What lifting methods for taking off the transmission apart. Can I use a regular jack to lift the car or is it something that I have lift a couple of feet of the ground. jogova 07-18-2008, 11:29 AM I am thinking of buying a used 4l60e transmission 2wd w/ 30k from a 02' blazer s10 jimmy. If I swap them, will it fit into my 97' blazer 2wd? MT-2500 07-18-2008, 02:18 PM It may not work. Wiring and solenoids and valve body may be different. Best to check the salvage yard interchange. If you have or rent a good transmission jack you cand do it. Best to raise front and rear end of truck and put some jack stands under it for saftey. MT. jogova 08-04-2008, 11:27 AM what is the total weight of the 4L60E transmission? jogova 03-26-2009, 09:39 AM thanks for all your help i was able to rebuild my own transmission. it was a big hassle and i would not do it again. Great learning experience. Swaping transmissions is 10 times much easier.
