I'll use Top Studio Super Detail-up Set and Crazy Modeler decals. http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/7858/afforum0001vj4.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/5525/afforum0002om9.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/6927/afforum0003mp7.jpg here's what I've done so far. http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/876/afforum0004tu6.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/4628/afforum0005we2.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/1292/afforum0006zr3.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/7914/afforum0007mm4.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/5001/afforum0008dj3.jpg thanks for looking! comments are welcome! Cheers, T stevenoble 06-22-2008, 06:36 AM Very nice start. The brakes are looking fantastic!! jano11 06-22-2008, 09:37 AM Those brakes look fantastic! I think I'll have to get one of those Top Studio detail kits. DerXL 06-23-2008, 01:03 PM Man, you're off to a great start. I'll definately follow this build. I love the suspension parts ! 69*Goat 06-24-2008, 11:06 AM Great Job with the Top Studio kit. I have it as well, and I hope to get around to using it on one of my Tamiya F1-2000's soon. billypee 07-01-2008, 09:46 AM Great start to what will surely be a fantastic model. [Billypee dons anorak] Does Crazy Modeller supply different circuit stickers for the steering wheel? Not sure I want to build Magny-Cours. [Billypee removes anorak] I agree with others that the brakes look superb. I would query the colour of the callipers though... they look too orange/brown. Did you use Titanium Gold (X-31)? Kind regards, Bill ejsmith 07-03-2008, 11:15 AM I know just how fiddly those brakes are having used the same set on my F2001!! Top job! But yeah the callipers should be pale gold rather than rust orange/brown. Still a great effort though! NewTom 07-04-2008, 09:39 PM thanks guys! well, yes I messed up the callipers a bit but I just didn't have gold leaf paint so I did it with tamiya xf-6 copper :sly: little update! http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/2905/mini20080622test0021hn7.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/7254/mini20080622test0030bq7.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9619/minidscf0089sr1.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/3055/minidscf0098ec0.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4125/minidscf0106ls1.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6855/minidscf0111ic6.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9026/minidscf0114ph9.jpg thanks for looking! have a nice one everyone!! Looking good! NewTom 08-01-2008, 03:49 AM cheers guys, I took some better pitures today, i hope you like them, a lot of things to do more but I'm getting there.... http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6996/mini20080801f20000039fz7.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/364/mini20080801f20000043tz4.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5928/mini20080801f20000045hj9.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/8261/mini20080801f20000026am7.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5097/mini20080801f20000035yr1.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/535/mini20080801f20000047pm8.jpg thanks for looking! T jano11 08-01-2008, 05:55 AM It's looking great! I'm impatient to see it finished. :) mrawl 08-01-2008, 06:02 AM Man, that is coming together very nicely! Stunning finish you're getting there. May I ask how you painted that - what primer, color, any clear coat, etc? NewTom 08-01-2008, 06:55 PM thanks guys, well, I use really basic stuff. I don't have an airbrush yet so I paint with Tamiya cans.... tell you what, it was blody hard to get this finish but it was worth it!! I used Tamiya fine surface primer (white) then TS-26 pure white and finally TS-49 bright red, cleared with TS-13 clear. on the inside TS-6 matt black. that's it. I'm planning to build a Model Factory Hiro model (F2002) but for that I'll buy an airbrush that's for sure!! the stand made out of MDF (9mm bottom and 5mm top) and I found some glossy (looks like aluminium) paper. looks much better!! http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/1163/mini20080802f2000001ky4.jpg more update soon! Cheers, T mrawl 08-02-2008, 04:15 AM Thanks! That's probably how I'd paint this too, but everyone seems to think that TS13 destroys decals - did you clear over the decals? No sign of damage to them? Did you use wet coats, or lots of drier mist coats? Sorry for the questions, but I'm just burning with curiosity to know if TS13 over decals is viable. Great job btw, it really does look excellent. I think the cans are fine - you can get a great finish with cans if you do it right. NewTom 08-02-2008, 04:03 PM Thanks! I usually use 4-5 mist coats and let it dry between coats. of course decals must be good as well, I had Crazy Modeller decals which was really really great. if you use Tamiya or other, you just need to take your time and dry it well (I use hairdryer) before clear cote! (sorry for my English, I hope it makes sence to you.... ) Cheers, Tom Exotics_Builder 08-03-2008, 04:48 PM thanks guys, well, I use really basic stuff. Cheers, T Looking at the paints you used, the model appears too orange. Is this lighting or camera setting? Looks great otherwise. NewTom 08-06-2008, 01:11 AM Looking at the paints you used, the model appears too orange. Is this lighting or camera setting? Looks great otherwise. well, it was the camera settings. :frown: today I tried to take some better pictures.... http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/5049/mini20080806f20000002sv4.jpg http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/9177/mini20080806f20000018kz6.jpg http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/377/mini20080806f20000004ck4.jpg thanks for looking! T jano11 08-06-2008, 02:54 AM Looks great! The paint job is excellent and I like the added details a lot. I think you convinced me to rebuild the very first model I've built! billypee 08-06-2008, 03:11 AM Everything from the paint job to the details are first rate. Great work. Bill P.S. Much better colour representation in the last post. Getting the white balance right on camera can be tough sometimes... I know. NewTom 08-10-2008, 10:50 PM thanks guys! some new pictures now! finally it's done! after 140 hours of fun building.... http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/9060/mini20080811f20000017eb8.jpg http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/985/mini20080811f20000028pv7.jpg http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/1438/mini20080811f20000019zm8.jpg http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/1501/mini20080811f20000022lt4.jpg http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/746/mini20080811f20000023hx3.jpg http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/789/mini20080811f20000031cs6.jpg http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/7669/mini20080811f20000030nn7.jpg http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/1041/mini20080811f20000055lo6.jpg thanks for looking! T mrawl 08-11-2008, 03:40 AM Fabulous work, it looks really *really* good. billypee 08-11-2008, 03:53 AM Great work, the model looks superb. DerXL 08-11-2008, 01:19 PM Just one word: Unbelievable !!! oregon3 08-26-2008, 09:28 PM Fantastic job. I was wondering how difficult it was to work with the Top Studio kit. I'm new to F1 modeling and I was wondering if was within my skill range. Did you use all of the pieces, or were some of them to fiddly to bother with? Thanks for the input. JB NewTom 08-27-2008, 02:17 AM Fantastic job. I was wondering how difficult it was to work with the Top Studio kit. I'm new to F1 modeling and I was wondering if was within my skill range. Did you use all of the pieces, or were some of them to fiddly to bother with? Thanks for the input. JB thanks, it was really fun to work with the Top Studio kit (well, how difficult it was??? let's say challenging) and you believe it or not this was my first F1 model, I used up most of the PE parts, all the resin parts, but I had trouble with the shrink tube so I just used 0.4 mm wires. I just got my new F1 kit a few days ago (Ferrari F2001) but that one I'll build OOB, had enough detailing on this one.... :iceslolan thanks again and have fun with your build!! cheers, Tom Big Kahuna 08-27-2008, 05:28 AM Awesome work Tom I must get the Top Studio set.
