I just finished rebuilding my website .... again. This time, from scratch. www.odellstudios.com (http://www.odellstudios.com) if you're interested.

You can download this Judge as a wallpaper there.

Very nice. Isn't there a stripe above each wheel on a Judge though?

How could I have missed that? This is, after all, an exact factory correct car in every other way :banghead: what with those monster 1969 GM wheels and Wilwood brakes.

your work is very clean

I'd include some wheel well shadows which will give it some depth.

Rims look good, color is nice.

You should post some steps so people can better understand what you are showing then maybe they'd appreciate your willwood more.

Your site looks good too. I'd like to see more pieces.

I guess i don't quite follow on the wheel well shadows or what you mean by posting some steps. Thanks for checkin it out though.

by steps I mean:

do a screen capture or 2 while you're working on it and post those pictures so folks can see or understand all the work you're putting in. When the only thing people see on a learning forum like this one is the final piece they don't always "get" what they're seeing. Just a suggestion.

wheel well shadows:

since the tire and rim sit under the fender opening (what I call a wheel well) there is often a shadow that helps show that recession. Having it in the drawing will give that area depth and take some of the flat out. Actually I see a tiny bit in there, maybe give it some more so it doesn't blend into the side shading...visually speaking of course.

It's a fine piece and I'm not capable of doing as well at all so...it's just a pointer that was passed on to me and I'm passing on to you. I hope you know that we're just art fans and there is no real critisism on this board...just random peoples random thoughts.

I'd still like to see more...maybe a Marlin.

good job

ok that's cool and kinda what I thought you were talking about. Yeah the wheel well does cast a shadow but the thing about big wheels and custom offset is that for me, I like the wheel and tire to push the wheel well to its limits and fill it up (but still be able to turn). So I made the shadow minimal to make it look this way. But since you pointed it out, a major thing I did forget was to put shadows on the brakes from the wheel which would have helped a lot with depth. DOH! ... it's always something.
As far as showing the steps involved, I'd just never really thought about it I guess. Are there many folks on here wanting to learn some Illustrator techniques?

There's a few digital artists and some that are interested.

I find that by posting steps from Illustrator through Photoshop in my case I gain insight as well.

Beginning with a pencil sketch and finding a way to a finish can be very humbling as your mistakes are exposed and when you do reach the end you find that it was the journey not the finish that led to your growth. Just my opinion but one I firmly believe.

I know several high end vector only artists. It'd be interesting to see how your technique compares.

I guess I'd have to show how to draw just one part or something because while I might have drawn it all first, then colored ... step by step ... years ago - I don't do it like that any more. I scribble a sketch, only half assed finish it, free hand a bunch of crap in Ai (sometimes without even a ref), draw a few shapes, color a few, import wheels drawn in other files etc etc etc. There are only a handful of things I do the same every time. Step by step might be helpful because there are no layers ... or I should say, there didn't used to be and I don't use them ... but now it's all planned upstairs in that cobweb I call a brain cause I pretty much already know what to do and what to expect. And for the record you're just as good or better than me with your work. Uh, also, since changing the site there will be many drawings never to be seen again so you'll have to go to http://cityofthesouth.deviantart.com/ to see quite a bit of my older works. I hope to get some more on the site tonight though, it's just that some of the old stuff just doesn't compair and needs to be retired.

I do, I was actually looking at something similar to your drawing. I have these 16 x 8's on it now. These were on my other Poncho:

The off-set is not deep enough on the front, and the tires rub when I turn. I am going to give these to my son for his S-10. I am going to have to go with 17 x 8's

Those are Hot Wheels aren't they? My brother has a set of them in black on his Firebird ... we're building it right now.
