Can anyone tell me if the replacements remotes for keyless entry that you can buy online are just as good as the ones dealers sell you at 3 times the cost? :confused:

and if so which online company is best to rely on?

I bought used ones from e-bay and never had any issues. Just use someone with a high rating. My 99 is shade tree mechanic programmable. I don't believe that's the case with the newer versions.

Yeah... it's easier to help you with a year and model of malibu ( some models use different FOB remotes).

I've gone to a wrecking yard - they often have a box of FOBs and will let you paw through them to find one. Just match the little numbers on the back, often a Malibu FOB can be interchanged with other GM products around the same year(s). Make sure the little numbers match and you'll be OK for a fraction of the price.
