My brakes have been intermittently squealing...I can go for days, even a week or so, and they do not do it, but in the past few days there is also a loud grinding sound...help? This too is intermittent.

Need to pull them apart and check the pads. Most pads will squeek when it is time to be changed as they will rub on the rotors. The grinding noise could be the metal backing on the pads grinding on the rotor.

My brakes squealed as well even after new brakes and i got some stuff from the auto parts store that you apply on the breaks and it seemed to do the trick.

Cheap metal in the rotors. Any moisture will cause them to squeal. Best bet is to get a soft brake pad, usually the cheapest.
