1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport - Won't startquickstart 06-15-2008, 11:40 PM Our 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport cranks but won't fire. Recently had distributor replaced and since then hasn't started. No fuel gauge, voltmeter or engine light. Security key light stays illuminated. Any suggestions?? Bobbywolf 06-16-2008, 01:16 AM Sounds like a fuse is gone. Failing that, possibly the ignition switch is shot. If it was just sudden like that, my bet is a fuse. Check the big guys under the hood to start. fredjacksonsan 06-16-2008, 07:59 PM Don't forget to look at what you just replaced, since replacing it started the problem. Also, check anything in the area in case you bumped it. wwwildman 06-20-2008, 07:50 PM Did you connect the electrical connector at the distributor? you may not be getting a signal to/from the stator or cam sensor. c180 06-23-2008, 11:01 AM Did you connect the electrical connector at the distributor? you may not be getting a signal to/from the stator or cam sensor. Hi, If you disconnect the Crankshaft Position Sensor, fuel gauge, voltmeter or engine light, etc, will function. Then change Crankshaft Position Sensor, this is typical of models from 97 to 02. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
