How many Miles R too many? mrekimf 06-13-2008, 11:29 PM Any help would be good, thanks '97ventureowner 06-14-2008, 12:59 AM Generally speaking, the average mileage on a vehicle is roughly 12 to 15,000 miles a year. But that is just an average. There will certainly be vehicles out there that exceed that such as vehicles used by businesses or salespeople, etc. Modern vehicles tend to be better built and therefore can go more miles. Make sure you do a thorough inspection of the vehicles you are interested in , especially having a mechanic look at it. And if service records are available for the vehicle look at them closely, noting service intervals, what work was performed and what new parts the vehicle has. I know there is an issue with the lower intake gaskets with some Pontiac Montanas. A new, revised gasket didn't enter the market until the summer of 2002, so if the Montana's model year is 2003 or before, I'd check to see if that was replaced and if not, if the current gasket may be leaking.
