View Full Version : Just Another Day Here Just Another Day Here SL3000gt 06-12-2008, 05:04 PM Here is the news story of the one last night that blew through here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/12/us/13tornado.html?ref=us EDIT: Here is a photo I snapped just as the storm was rolling in. Keep in mind it was only about 7:00 so it should be bright as day here. (No I was not on my roof or even outside) http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/CIMG0321.jpg BNaylor 06-13-2008, 01:42 AM Interesting post SL and sorry to hear that. Stay safe. BTW - You can send the rain my way less the tornadoes. We're in a drought and temps over 100 degrees on and off for the last two weeks. Hungrycat7 06-13-2008, 12:19 PM I hate looking out the window and seeing that! Gives you such a helpless feeling! Stay safe! SL3000gt 06-13-2008, 09:49 PM Yeah, I try to do what I can to stay out of the way of the storms. In that one night, where I live, we got 6" of rain! To put that in perspective that is the equivalent to 6' of snow.....in one night. Everything he is just soaked. Sorry for the bad pic too. I have a really nice camera that was given to me for a gift, I just don't know how to use it (according to a buddy of mine that is a photograper anyway lol). Hungrycat7 06-13-2008, 10:58 PM Ya. . . We just had a similar situation just west of me in Indiana! They got something like 10 inches of rain in two days! I feel bad for you and them! I hope all works out well for you guys! You deserve some nice sunny weather but unfortunately it is tornado season so good luck! SL3000gt 06-27-2008, 08:03 PM To anyone who thought I was joking about the title here is further proof. I had a minor tornado run through my neighborhood about 2 hours ago. I was stuck on the interstate with traffic at a stand still and my car feeling as if it were going to be flipped over. No sooner do I here on the radio that one tornado has been reported about 1/2 a mile from me. A person a couple cars in front of me had a sign post blast through his back window as I was just sitting there watching this all happen. I made it back to my place after parking a couple blocks down as I could not drive any further less my car be stalled in deep water. From there I hiked back to my place to get the camera and here was what I came up with. (all within about 1/8th mile of my place or closer, some right across the street) http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado064.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado065.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado067.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado070.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado073.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado074.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado075.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado076.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado077.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/SL3000gt/Tornado085.jpg SL3000gt 07-01-2008, 07:27 PM Since I did not have my camera with me at the time I was not able to take a picture of the storm rolling in before it hit Omaha, but someone I know was able to capture this pic just before it got into the city. http://www.ink3s.org/pub/maverick/storm06272006.jpg 72chevelleOhio 07-06-2008, 02:01 AM Since I did not have my camera with me at the time I was not able to take a picture of the storm rolling in before it hit Omaha, but someone I know was able to capture this pic just before it got into the city. http://www.ink3s.org/pub/maverick/storm06272006.jpg .....F THAT! when I see that, its go time boys! :uhoh: What all did the storm screw up, as far as your stuff? Hungrycat7 07-06-2008, 05:23 PM I think I would rather be anywhere on the planet than right below that thing! kris 07-06-2008, 06:52 PM Since I did not have my camera with me at the time I was not able to take a picture of the storm rolling in before it hit Omaha, but someone I know was able to capture this pic just before it got into the city. http://www.ink3s.org/pub/maverick/storm06272006.jpg Powerful picture. SL3000gt 07-08-2008, 06:48 PM Yeah, our place lost a ton of shingles, and left some hail damage on the side of the house. I saw some houses that looked like they had a drive-by shooting because there was so much hail that just busted straight through their siding. Many people were without power for about 4-5 days. Surprisingly only two died by having a tree fall on there car. I believe they were two teenagers. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
