This is a model I have been working on, the first Model factory Hiro kit I have had. Quite daunting with all the white metal pieces.
It is the Le Mans winning Ferrari 250LM of 1965, driven by Maston Gregory and Jochen Rindt, one of my favourate ferraris

Looks very good, keep up the good work.

It seems like the white metal takes some serious cleanup, but otherwise those MFH kits are really great (and you pay for it too!). I'm just admiring that unneccessary but very cool flywheel detail.

i know it's sounds stupid & silly.
but until the day i can finally hold ANY MFH resin kit in my own hands, i can only watch in owe the pics, with my mouth open now.

Marc, don't be sad, after all you like to create all those one off Ferrari! Plus you are not alone in wishing to have bought those MFH kits, I've found myself thinking about selling all the double kits I have and investing in MFH kits (they are worth all the money and they would give me more time to actually build models than I get now with all the problems I get with the plastic ones, but it's difficult to take the final decision.

Alex, yes it takes an age to clean up and polish the white metal, also it seem a shame to cover up all the detail like the cylinder heads and the pistons in the block, great touch of detail, same with the flywheel.
Marc, you should get one, they are lovely kits.

I use Tamiyas polishing paper to start with, 400, finnish with 2000, also I use the Scale Motorsport polishing sticks, they work really well and good for getting round smaller bits

Thats really cool i remember making one of these cars before but i forgot the model car it was this was a long time ago lol

Couple more photos, cleaned and primed the frame and other pieces, using etching primer, got the gear box onto the engine and the brakes, and also weathered the engine.

Very nice! Really great: you done a superb cleaning job, normally I don't like so much weathering on Hiros since they show ever a lot of prototyping marks, but your is fully free by faults. Lot of patience but the job worth any time needed.

I think also the 250Lm is the better if the Climax/Hiro kits, really a jewel. I got in yellow - Francorchamps :)

Marc, you should get one, they are lovely kits.

thought about this one myself but decided to take a break from Ferraris and build a MFH Cobra, just started a wip here.

I've made quite a few MFH kits, can I suggest that you try cleaning up the castings in your normal way and then finish with a brass suede brush; it polishes them very well and easily and looks pretty realistic.

Got the engine into the frame, and the axel in, also the coils and wiring, and a start on the fuel line.

Couple more photos, painted the lower rear cowling, and clear coated with 2k clear, put the grill in, anti-roll bar, and a bit more framework, and a start on the exhausts.
I'm going to do additional wiring with the battery, and fuel lines next.

wow, this is just incredible. it looks really good so far and i think that is is one of the more beautiful ferraris. these kits have some incredible details, but i don't think i have the skills to justify buying one yet.

well what can i say...

this is one of the best documented buildups i've seen in AF on ferraris for a long time, coupled with good res pics.

MFH is indeed worth every dime duncan! i now finally come face to face & have to admit the fact that this maker's kits ARE truly magnificient! the fact that somehow or rather i have to find ways to land myself one kit!!!

great progress & skills there...my hats are off for you bro!

That engine look fantastic, washed just the way I like, can you please give a bit of info on paint and technique (also base color, is it Alclad or something else).

All I did with the engine was polish up the white metal, no painting, then with the weathering, I used a very small amount of Tamiya XF1 with a lot of thinners, mixed it in the lid of the thinners bottle, and washed over the engine.

Decals on, and clear coated, I used the 2K clear, it gives a great shine, and nice and hard when it dries.

It is worth having a practice with the 2K clear, the only thing I found was that I used a little more thinners than the 10%, nearer 20-25%, no problem with the paints, easy to use.

Taking shape, frame and front end together,also bit more work on the dashboard, and made up some seatbelts, and weathered the underside

working on the bodywork, chrome foiled round the windscreen, got the fuel tanks in, and started on the lights and grills, added a bit of detail on the inside of the doors aswell with cable pulls.

With the boot, I did not want to chip the clear coat, so did not push it into place, but it gives the idea. I will display it without the boot on.
This was the first MFH kit I have built, and have learnt alot from it, it was good fun, though it did have it's moments.

Looks fabulous, wheels are perfect but my favorite is engine bay, looks stunning.

you did a nice job, especiallay the engine looks good.
the paintjob could be improved a bit, to much orange peel for my taste, very visible in the last picture...

The spokes look a little thin.

Yes there is room for improvment on the paintwork, there were a couple of places with a bit of orange peel, it was with the clear coat, I will do a bit of polishing, should of taken more time on that. With the wire wheels I think the scale is very good, thinking that they are 1:24 of the real thing, my opinion

I saw this car in the skin at the Indy 500 last year in the Indy Museum. Practically a religious experience for a Ferrari fan! Seeing your build-up, I can't see anything that doesn't ring true to the 1:1 car.

Looking good. I think I have to buy one of these MFH kits. The always look great to me.
