My friend has a 95 Contour and the temp light comes on immediately and the check engine light comes on it about 15 minutes and stays on, the temp gauge shows no abnormally hot engine. Fluids are all fine, seems to run fine. Any ideas? Thanks! Dave

the temp light usually means your antifreeze is low, I beleive the Duratecs had touchy coolant meters so fill it a little over full and it should stop.

Thanks, he says the coolant level is OK.

The coolant level on the tank might say full, but the sensor is mounted to high or something (I have 4 cyl contours) and I've read if you fill them up past full it won't do it anymore.
