auto headlight on switch

My headlight automatic switch turns on the lights on crisp bright days when the sensor is in the shadow of the windshield pillar. If I have to put a parking sticker in that part of the window the problem will be worse. Under these bright outside conditions the dash gages become difficult to read when the headlights come on due to the dash lights dimming. It is less of a problem on cloudy days where the light is more diffuse. Any ideas on how to install an auto-off switch for the headlight circuitry like most cars have when they have auto-on sensors? The daylight running lights are there for a reason and the headlights shouldn't come on during bright sunny days.

Pop the sensor out of the dash board and unplug it. Put it back in the hole. Voila! Your automatic headlights are disabled, but DRL still work.
