I recently had my Astro re-keyed. Since then, the security light comes on several minutes after I start the van and remains on until I key off. Can this cause the black box to disable the vehicle? I am planing a long trip and don't want to get stuck in the middle of the desert. Thx. tom@marinefire.com (tom@marinefire.com)

You are running in the "fail-enabled" mode- you have a security code set- whomever re-keyed should be able to read and interpret the code...

The van was (and is) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico when the keys were stolen. The local dealership doesn't do keys so they refered me to a locksmith that does not have a code reader. I have to drive the van to the States and can take it to the Chevy dealer when I get there but I am concerned that this situation might tell the computer to shut down the van in the middle of the desert. Can that happen? tom@marinefire.com
