brake light swich

I bought my car with a third brake light, only thing is they wired it to the left turn signal also. how would i wire up the thrid brake light so it doesnt blink with the left turn signal? i tried rigging it up to its own swich but it diddnt seem to work.

It has to be wired directly to the brake switch circuit under the dash.

hello,if its wired into the brake lamp ass. u should be able to disconnect it from t/s & wire it into the brake lamp.

It has to be wired directly to the brake switch circuit under the dash. i did this on my 1980. spliced a wire onto the wire out of the brake switch and ran it to the high mount lamp and grounded the lamp. worked good for me. 463:2cents:

also one last question, what color would the brake light wire be? i know the cruise control system is wired through the switch too right?

I don't know off the top of my head, but if you have a Haynes or Chilton manual, the schematic will let you know.
