I still need to pull the hydraulic tensioner off and replace it. 97 SOHC Passport. Do I need to order the whole assembly/bracket? Or just the hydraulic part itself which is going for around 85 bucks by itself? Thanks

Most say the tensioner pulley does not need to be replaced, but I didn't want to go back in before 80-100K due to the pulley failing.

It's all about cost/risk benefit (and how much cash is in the kitty).
If you are doing the work yourself you could examine each part and make a choice about replacement.
If a re-used part fails later you will have to repeat the job.
If you are paying for labo[u]r - it would be wiser to replace all now:
water-pump
tensioner pulley
hydraulic tensioner (pusher)
idle pulley
timing belt
