Adding AC

I just purchased a 99 Sahara and was thinking of adding AC to it. Besides changing or adding the obvious things ( compressor, control assembly, belts, hoses etc. ) how much of a job is it? Are there major electrical issues, or just find a wrecked one and start grabbing parts?

Check with your local radiator repair shop, an aftermarket A/C kit is the best way to go. Kits are around $800. easy to install and look like factory when finished. If you buy a crash victim as a donor and the system has been open to the atmosphere, the only parts that you can trust are the mounting brackets, plenum chamber and wiring.

The dash and air handling stuff underneath were different on mine. I had A/C installed on my '97; got the kit, installed by the dealer and total cost was about $2000. If you know what you're doing under the dash, go for it; but if not you may want to let them do it, although it's more expensive.
