Non INtrusive 3.2 98?

After researching whether or not it was important to change my T belt.. I found out that the 3.2 motor produced in models 98 and forward are non-intrusive engines; meaning no damage to motor if T belt breaks. The auto parts store have agreed and told me the same thing. I just want to be sure- does anyone know if this is true on 98 and newer 3.2's?

59 threads with "interference" in them. Here is the latest...

By the way, Gates disagrees. At least part of the time. On one part of their site they say it is an interference application, non-interference on another.

Jerry (jlemeond) says they are non interference so I'll go with that. However, the tensioner or water pump usually goes before the t-belt does. They usually dont last much past 100k miles.
