96 Golf GL Cuts Out while drivingozace1 05-25-2008, 09:23 AM Have had and been running my Golf 96 Auto for nearly a year with no problems and a couple of weeks ago started experiencing cut outs while driving. i.e.- Cut Outs-Driving slow or fast and revs drop to zero and engine stops running and am forced to pull over and attempt restart. Will not restart immediately and is now backfiring at times when trying to restart. Can take up to 5 mins to start again. No other electrical/mechanical problems. VW Dealer mechanic checked and found no codes in system/Electrical sensor values OK/Found 'Throttle Position Sensor Connector Pin to be bent causing circuit to break while driving'(service report findings)-damaged wiring Pin Replaced but problem persists. Am taking it back but want to know if anyone else has seen similar/same issue and if any proven results from fixes applied have worked without going down the whole elimination of each possible part replacement path. Cheers:confused: pdadams 12-09-2008, 09:49 AM Well Im sorry that I don't offer any solutions, however my '96 vw golf 2.0L does something very similar, only it happens after I drive through a big puddle. then begins to miss like crazy, and wont restart for at least an hour. Something is obviously getting wet. I ran a code scanner and it gave me code P1500 which says " Fuel Pump Relay, Electrical Circut Malfunction" didnt know if this would help or not.
