I'll be replacing my front left control arm due to a bad ball joint...everything looks straight forward...Question: Should the constant velocity shaft from the from the spindle assembly be loosened and pulled out, in order to take out the arm?

95 Metro Sedan 1.3 automatic.

Nope. Just remove the the nuts and bolts you see holding it to the frame.
Remember to completely remove the ball joint nut & bolt, otherwise the ball joint won't come out. Once removed it should fall out. Then reinstall and torgue everything to specs.
