Well, yesterday, on my way home from work...I noticed that my 1990 Lumina was making noises under the hood. I checked the fluids before I left, but thought nothing of it as eveything seemed normal. But about 2 miles away from my house, I heard something burst and decided to coast to my house to see what happened.

As it turned out, a hose from the radiator busted, and I was losing water since the burst, although I did have water in the reserve tanks and radiator itself still. After I let the car cool down for a few hours, I replaced the hose, and refilled the car with anti-freeze and water...but the car was idlng rough, and as I let the air from the cooling system out, it turned to hot steam, and water gushed out...

My concern is that something either cracked during the time the hose burst, or that the radiator might be blocked...but in either case I would like some advice on where to go next. I just hope nothing happened to the engine internally (as I JUST got done putting in new fuel injectors and other things in the car too!!!)

Thanks for your help everyone!

Welcome to AF, what makes you think there is a problem? Pressure test the system see if it holds, look for any other leaks and sit back and see if any thing else pops up here, basic diagnostics.

what if her burst blew a head?? steamy bubbles sounds like heads to me. On my 93chrysler the same thing happened. I had to flush the whole system out,and put in head sealer. but no antifreeze, cause its not compitalbe with the sealer. worked all year too. :)
I hate car trouble!!!:uhoh:
