Hard to start & no powerW00dy 05-11-2008, 01:00 AM Today when I went to leave for work my 94 metro didn't want to start. After trying 3 or 4 times it started ran rough for 10 to 15 seconds and died. I restarted it and it seamed ok until tried to leave for work it would stall out & had no power so I left it parked. When I got home from work I tried it again after I got it started the idle was somewhat low for about 10 seconds then normal for 10 seconds it did this for a few minutes then it ran ok for 3 to 4 minuets so I was able to put the car back in my driveway I checked the timing and looked for vacuum leaks I also looked at the fuel Injector and I couldn't tell if that was ok or not it looked kind of drippy to me. I replaced the fuel tank, pump, strainer & filter about a month ago so I think the pump & filter should be good. Does anyone know what the problem might be? (1.0L, 5SPD) Thanks, W00dy Johnny Mullet 05-11-2008, 10:54 AM You did not mention whether you checked spark or not. I would check the plugs and remove the distributor cap and inspect the rotor. While the cap is off, crank it over and see if it's turning. W00dy 05-12-2008, 10:12 PM Ok it's got spark the rotor turns when I crank it over. I replaced the distributor cap, rotor, plugs & wires. I checked the fuel pressure and I'm 7 to 10 psi with the engine running or not so I think I will remove the tank and recheck. If pressure stays low, it may be a restriction in the feed line or filter, or a bad fuel pump. -MechanicMatt vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
