I am unable to open the hood via the hood latch inside. What other alternatives do I have before taking it to a mechanic? Thanks

Have had same problem = try haveing someone push/lean on the front center of hood [ wherer the latch is located ] while you pull on the release. This takes some of the pressure off the locking lever sticking due to rust build up
