Egr ValveSilver Blue '97 05-08-2008, 03:26 PM How do you know if your EGR valve is going bad? And if it is how do change it or is there a way of fixing it? Thanks in advance. tech JK 11-25-2008, 10:56 PM A faulty EGR valve will usually set a check engine light and trouble code. ghutchin 11-26-2008, 08:59 AM Yeah, unlike EGR valves of the past, our EGR valves have a sensro built into them that tells the ECU how open or closed the EGR is. So if the ECU commands that the EGR open 35%, and it sees that is is 60% open it will set the code. With this sort of feedback loop, I doubt its possible for the EGR to fail and the ECU to not set a code. xeroinfinity 11-26-2008, 11:41 AM Thanks for the tips guys.
