I have a 2002 Monte Carlo with 40,000 miles on it. The security light comes on, the lights blink, there is a clicking noise under the dash. The vehicle starts everytime, but the security light stays on. The battery is 6 years old. I have tried to reset the settings on the radio. Any suggestions? Thanks ...

My '01 LS has recently started going LOCO. It will run fine for about 10 minutes, then the red battery/Security/Service Engine Soon lights cycle continuously. When the lights are cycling the AC doesn't cool, and other electical anomalies occur. Trunk pops open, radio displays LOCKED and won't work. Car ALWAYS starts.

From what I can tell it is the BCM module. I am told that only a dealer can install and PROGRAM a BCM module. Additionally, I am told that when a BCM module is replaced and re-programmed by a qualified GM mechanic that it is always necessary to re-program the PASSLOCK module.

Not every gm mechanic is going to be great at re-programming both devices and clearing all the codes that have accrued.

I'm guessing it will cost at least $500 dollars to fix this if I take it to a stealership.

I'm calling my favorite mechanic tomorrow and hopefully he'll take the job for about half that. He may not take the job, though. :frown:

He said he knew a locksmith in town that could re-program a passlock module, but the bcm module had to be taken to a stealership.

I figure every nickel under $500.00 is found money. :shakehead
