car waxing

what kind of wax do you guys use and how often do you wax your cars?

The stuff that's on sale.

And I wax it when they have buy one-get-one.

I also use the spray wax at the car wash. I should probably actually wax it good this year. Maybe after the bumper gets painted.

I don't use anything but Wizards products on my car. I've tried alot of other ones, and I think it's the best. If not, definitely 3m. Stay away from Turtle Wax, it usually does more damage than good for 99% of car finishes, or last time I used it that's what the consensus was, maybe they finally learned how to make good products. I usually try to wax it every other wash, but that's hard to do when I'm at school, so then I usually try do it every time I go home (once a month or so). But in the summer, every other wash. Sure thing. It just rained yesterday so it's all dirty right now, but after my last final today she'll get another wash, and then when I get home tomorrow I'll give her a coat of wax and snap some pics for ya. You'll pee yourself in amazement.

How long doess should the waxing take on a 2G? I've never waed mine.

How ever long you want to. The one time I did it all out with my buddy it took us maybe 2 hours. But we worked the shit out of it. Also did by hand with no buffer or anything. Could probably take a lot less time with one.

YEah the electric buffers aren't the best in the world. I did use some strong pads for my expedition, and that was about an hour and a half after a 45min wash.

another thing is Wisconsin sucks ass for a nice car, one day it will be nice and sunny and the next it can rain for like 15 days in a row, not to mention Wisconsin seems like construction capital of the US, and tar pits are "unavoidable" which means on a 15 min drive could plaster alot of fresh new tar on your freshly waxed car

I've been using Maguiers Color-X to try to slow down the process of the sun cancer on my roof since it's pretty bad. It covers up the cancer for about a day or two but thats about it, hopefully I'll be able to save money for a paint job soon. The Color-X sure does make the car shine though.

I don't know what you're smokin, but we've got like 4 different style pads for our buffer and use them for about a year before replacing them. As long as you wash them after a job and keep them clean, you're good to go.

What do you mean by you start to smear after about one panel? What kind of buffer are you using?

i use pollymer II wax, its awesome! get it online.. by the gallon... keep the bottle in the pantry... wax every other to every third wash... but my roof and hood are showing VERY minor signs of cancer from the texas sun...

i mean while your buffing it, wax gets built up on the pad and just smears it

You use an electric buffer to wax your car? I still don't really know what you're talking about. It's supposed to smear it, that's what the microfiber towels are for, to get the extra residue off.

I do everything by hand... i dont like electric stuff.
