Looking forward to watching this. I'm currently in the middle of building the mp4/13 so will be interesting to see your progress.

I'm assuming from the photos that you've brush painted the body. One thing I learned years back from my brush painting days, was that for large areas to be covered like the body, to thin down your final coats. That way, the paint should be less thick, leaving the brush marks you see.

Obviously the best alternative is to spray the paint on. But if you really can't use a spray can/airbrush, then that's my advice.

I don't think that's brush marks you are seeing, I think it's scratches from the white metal cleaning process.

I don't think that is painted. I most likely is marks from sanding down the body.

the car is still in its cleaning stages, Tameo kits are all metal/PE, and you have to clean them before paint

This should be good to follow. I'm going to be starting an MP4/13 for my next project so it'll be nice to see how yours comes out. Are you going to be using zero paints for this? I bought a set but have yet to try them out (got to finish the first model before I start the next!). Anyway keep the updates coming!

yea lol its only been sanded thats why you can see the marks.. ejsmith i dont think im using Zero paints, i will probably just use tamiya.. anyway i will have another update soon

small update, i just attached a few parts. The little aero dynamite pieces to the body, i think they are chimineys. And i did a bit of work on the undertray.

i finally went to our local hobby shop and got some primer, i primed everything. Also the back wing is complete same with the body and the wheels, all it needs is paint and decals..

with the livery, do you only have to spray the black?

or do you have to spray the silver also

Are you sure you don't want to fill the inscriptions at the bottom?

no i have to spray the silver first then mask the black. Ales no i like having the inscriptions there, i will not hide them.

Looks beautiful already. :1: on the black. Wheels are looking good. It's nice to see your 1/43's then look at my 1/20's on my desk right next to me :smile: .

update, the gun metal/black went on great... The body is decaled and same with the wings, they are wating for clear coat.

turned out stunning

Paintwork looks marvelous!! Kind of makes me want to dig out and start my MP4/13!!! I like the McLaren in the silver and gun metal 'West' scheme, although the red and white colours from the Marlboro years are still my favorite.

Looks awesome Johnny.

I particularly like this race becase Mika stuck it to Schumi with his massive overtaking manouver. One of the best I have ever seen. Then Schumi had the gall to try and say there wasn't enough room to pass there, but to his surprise Mika found room on the inside and pulled up ahead of him leading into the next corner.

thanks guys, Spike the clear is modelmaster spray can(ultra gloss) and the polish is tamiya. Big Kahuna yea i saw the pass on youtube its amazing..
